SharePoint solution installer ????

    Question

  • Hello,
this is my first project with SharePoint.
I want to develop an application "SharePoint Solution Installer" which allows me to move the SharePoint solution that has just been completed from the development server to the client's server.
    i.e.
After end of the development phase of the solution on the SharePoint development server, the application "SharePoint Solution Installer" should be able to distinguish between files of the SharePoint platform and those of the developed solution, then copying them to a storage medium such as external hard drive, then reinstall the files and folders and configuration items in the client's server.

I am asking is there an application "open source" similar to that described above?
    which are files to move?
what are the important settings and configuration items ?
Do you have documents that explain the internal architecture of SharePoint files and folders?
    your comments?
knowing that this solution must support the solutions af SharePoint Server and foundation 2007 and 2010.
    thank you

  • Assuming that you are using something like WSP Builder when creating 2007 solutions, then the only file you need to worry about is the WSP solution that is created.  VS 2010 contains project templates that automatically output WSP files.  WSPs are renamed archive (.CAB) files that contain all the solution files that need to be deployed on a production server.  That WSP file can be copied to the production server and installed using either STSADM or PowerShell.

There is a CodePlex application called SharePoint Solution Installer that provides a predefined executable shell that you can run to install a WSP Solution on the production server.  It is not designed to run remotely.  Here are the links for WSPBuilder and SharePoint Solution Installer.

  • If you use SharePoint 2010, than try SharePoint 2010 Solution Installer!
