Pivot Table drill down feature in SSRS

    Question

  • My client has FoxPro reports & wanted to convert them to SSRS 2008. There is a report which likes Excel report Pivot table . It has drill down list as in http://www.bettersolutions.com/excel/EUA153/LI914711912.htm link and can select all or deselect any items which I don't want to display.

I have created the report through SSRS using Matrix and rendered it to Excel. But I don't know how to use this drill down (Filtering)  feature. Does SSRS 2008 support this ? Please let me know the way I can proceed .

Really appreciate your help on this.

    Thank you,

    Nandika

  • You can try one of the following.
    1. If number of columns you want filter on is less than create parameter for each of them and constraint your query using WHERE clause.

    2. If number of columns you want filter on are more than return everything in report, export that to EXCEL and then select all and add filter.

as per my knowledge, there is no direct way to export to excel with predefined filters.

  • Thank a lot.  Is there any way to add this pivot table filters programatically?

  • Hi Nandika,

From the link you gave, I got that you might want to display or hidden the columns dynamically depending on the selection. We can achieve this in Sql Server Reporting Service as well. There is a similar thread you can click it at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlreportingservices/thread/2f0f681b-6fc2-44a6-b257-c8d69d770da6/ to get a reference from Sample for No.2 understanding  .Then export the report to excel.
