sql server 2005 express DateTime format changes at various installation type.

    Question

  • Hello,
When I install sqlserver express by clicking its icon its date time format suitable with my computer and no problem. (day/month/year).
But when I install it with my software deployment as a prerequisite I use command line argumens like this:

    sqlexpress32 /insancename=myinstance ......

its installs DateTime format different type(month/day/year) and this causes error in my application.
Is there any way to determine DateTime format in install process or  do a have to change this manually inside
    the sql server express

    thank you.

There might be other ways to control this also, here is one way.

    SP_CONFIGURE 'default language'

    SP_HELPLANGUAGE

    SP_DEFAULTLANGUAGE @loginame = 'LoginName', @LANGUAGE = 'Language'

Or you could use standard ISO dateformats if you can.

  • hi,
just a little addendum to Sankar...
actually you should alway use the ISO date format to prevent these kinds of problems, as every server principal (login) can have his/her own language setting..
