Error code 0x84B10001 while installing SQLServer 2008 R2 KB981355 x64 HotFix

    Question

  • Dear,

    I get the following error during apply the last comulative hotfix KB981355.

    any help will be much appreciated .

    SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

  • 1. Could you please share  C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log\ folder with us.
    2. Please share C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\machine.config file.

  • 1. Did you ever run IISLockDown.exe on this server?
    2. Can you modify machine.config and remove <system.serviceModel> tag compltely

    Delete whole tag (start to end) PLEASE TAKE A BACKUP of the file.
    3. Are you running 32 bit IIS on 64 bit OS?

    I tried to do the previous steps but no use.

    but i have no more time. i had to reformat the servers and updated SQL Server Successful
