  • Once u restore the Database from SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008 , perform  database reindexing also change the database recovery model to 100.Run DBCC CheckDB Command to check for any inconsistant data.

  • Do you mean to say that you will be moving the data regularly from 2005 instance or application puts your data in new database . Either of this shouldnt have any problem.

But make changes to the compatibility level to 100 only if it required and your application is desgined such that else retain the compatibility still at 90.

  • There would be no issues when you move your data from a SQL 2005 database to SQL 2008 instance. You could use backup/restore or detach/attach or scripting data/schema and execute the script on 2008 database.

Where do you think you will have issues in this migration?

  • Thanks Lekss, for your fast erspons,

Actually first i take bakup and restore from SQL server 2005 to SQL server 2008, after that i will move the daily data with one application (for this appliation move the data from local process database to live database).

  • Restore will get the data moved with no problem. There may be more to be concerned with however. You will need to examine permissions on the data. The users even if they have the same name will have a different id.
