  • Looks to me like a memory issue. Try to run these counters and see if you're hitting the memory issue

    MSAS  memory:

Memory Limit low KB--- Low limit specified for your AS server

Memory limit high(Total) Kb--- high limit specified for your AS server

Memory usage kb ---Current memory used by AS services same as msmdsrv.exe (working set)

Next time, If you have Analysis services specific questions, please try to post it in Analysis services forum so that you'll get more responses.

  • You can find those counters and other windows as well as application specific counters in perfmon. Starting from 2008 R2 Sql server profiler for Analysis has those counters as well.

Please remember, in order to run application specific counters, you need to have an administrative rights to the server hosting your Analysis services.

  • Hi,

Thank for the details. I am not able to start the counters in permon. it was throwing below error message.

The AnalysisServiceCounters log or alert has not started. Refresh the log or alert list to view current status, or see the application event log for any errors. Some logs and alerts might require a few minutes to start, especially if they include many counters

Can you help me how to start the counter without above issue.

  • You can also veiw the memroy congiuration by looking up the properties for analsysis service .

Connect to database , > rightclick properties > Memory

To verify if this is a memry issue try fetechign fewer rows and see if your still getting errors.Check which version of MSXML  your using as well.
