An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted). Cannot create a connection to data source. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)

    Question

  • Hello all,

    First time poster.

Am attempting to create a report page through SSRS but experiencing some trouble.

    Some Info:

--Report is being built with Visual Studio2010 and is located on same server as database.

--Visual Studio preview of the report works perfectly.  No errors/warnings during Build/Deployment.

--Report is viewable on server where it is being hoste--good result, same as preview

--Error occurs when attempting to view report on other client PC.  Am not even able to view from the server where the report was initially created.

    Any input is appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  • Hi Jeff,

From the error message "Cannot create a connection to data source 'DataSource1'. (rsErrorOpeningConnection)" we can know that the account on the client PC lack the permission to connect to the database. We can avoid this in two ways, the first one is grant the corresponding permission to the client account. Another one is that specify a single set of stored credentials. Stored credentials are used if the report runs unattended. The report server retrieves and uses the credentials when report processing is scheduled or triggered by an event rather than a user request. For more detail steps about how to set Store Credentials for a Data Source, please see:

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
