  • Hello,

I have seen that in your post :

    Code Snippet

    C:\>cd \Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn>sqlservr.exe

Have you tried to execute SqlSrv.exe from an application or the execute windows ?

If it is the case,it is normal you get these messages.

SqlSrv.exe is the executable related to the Sql Server Service, you can manage this service thru the management console related to the services, by program ( with Smo ) and Sql Server Management Studio : that's all.

You will find explanations on this link :

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189925.aspx

Don't hesitate to post again for more help or explanations

    Have a nice day

Obviously, your instance is already running. Can you make sure it's not already running elsewhere(e.g. as a service).

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

This is first time installation on new machine. I tried starting SQL server from command line as well but no luck. I don't have the icon to start the SQL server Management studio in Programs menu.

The error log doesnot give any information on error. I reinstalled it but same. The service account for this setup is Local machine. Only one user account exist in the machine. Admin account is disabled.

In configuration service manager it shows all the services are running but it doesnot start.

Any help would be appreciated. Let me know if any information is required to fix this problem.

  • Hello,

errorlog is the last log which has been created ( so it is the most recent ) and you should have upto 5 errorlogN with N = 1 thru 5)

As soon as you start or restart your sql server service ( either the service manager, the SAC or a Windows restart ),, errorlog5 is deleted

    errorlog4 is renamed as errorlog5

    errorlog3 is renamed as errorlog4

    errorlog2 is renamed as errorlog3

    errorlog1 is renamed as errorlog2

    errorlog is renamed as errorlog1

a new errorlog is created  ouf...

So you look at errorlog ( without number )

    Have a nice day
