  • Hi cmk1,

Drilldown is when you click on something (grouping usually) on the report and this expands the next level of detail on the same report.

Drilltrough is when you click on something and it opens another report, which shows you a lower level of detail on another "drill-through" report.

  • Hello,

I think you had understood what drill through reports are from Boyan's post. If it is still not clear here we go.

There are two reports ReportA and ReportB.

    1. ReportA will be showing all the details of the employee in the company.
    2. ReportB will be displaying the details of a single employee. (Work details)
    3. In ReportA on the EmployeeId column you will set Jump to report in the Navigation property.
    4. To jump to ReportB by passing the EmployeeId.
    5. When user clicks on EmployeeIn in ReportA he will be taken to ReportB.
    6. Details of the employee is seen in ReportB.

This process is called as Drill-Through.

    Hope its clear & helpful...

  • More in simpler terms, drill through  helps you to connect another report(in ssrs terms, it helps you to jump to another report), connect to external URL etc. Well, you can also pass the parameters from Parent report to child report etc.

Pls check this link to get an insight on drill through report

  • Hi,

Drill down means it will navigate from summary level information to detail information within a report. While Drill through means it will navigate from summary to detail from report to report. For more knowledge about the Drill down and drill through ,please click these links:
