Unable to create output file

    Pregunta

  • When I set up the distribution agent to write to a file by adding -Output d:\ReplOutput.txt to the "run agent" job step, replication fails with the following error:
2009-11-10 17:05:21.308 The handle is invalid.
2009-11-10 17:05:21.308 Startup Delay: 2401 (msecs)The process could not create file 'D:\ReplOutput.txt' due to OS error 6.

I have not been about to find out anything about the OS Error 6 online or in BOL.  Has anyone run into this before?

    Thanks!

  • If you are running Vista or Windows 2008 you will need to create a different directory other than the root directory.

also if you are using the local system account verifiy it has access to access the desktop.

  • Well, that was an easy fix.  The OS is windows 2003, but still, creating the subdirectory did the trick.  thanks!
