Intellisense stopped working after 2008 R2 SP1 CU7 installed

    질문

  • Although I had VS2010 SP1 installed, I did not have any problems with Intellisense in SSMS UNTIL I installed R2 CU7, which was supposed to correct problems that others experienced with Intellisense.  Unfortunately, CU7 appears to have broken Intellisense and I cannot figure out how to get it working again.  I have reinstalled VS2010 SP1 as well as CU7 without any change.  All the Intellisense options are turned on as they always have been.  SSMS version is now 10.5.1753 and the instance version is 10.5.1777.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • I was just about to install CU7 on my machine even though SSMS Intellisense is still working after installing Visual Studio 2010 SP1.  I guess I'll hold out a while to see where this post ends.

  • May pay to watch this thread as it appears others are experiencing the same problem.

  • The thread subject refers to SQL 2008 R2 SP1, but you mentioned your SQL instance is 10.5.1777... that's the build for SQL 2008 R2 Gold CU7, not SQL 2008 R2 SP1 CU7.

    SQL 2008 R2 SP1 CU7 build numnber is 10.50.2817.0 so it sounds like you don't have SP1.

In fact, CU7 for SQL 2008 R2 SP1 was released AFTER this post: all the files are timestamped 31st May 2012.

Might therefore be worth upgrading to SP1, then installing CU7 for SP1.
