SQL Server 2008 (Std) : Database diagram distorted on printout

    질문

  • Hello

When I create a diagram in MS SQL Management Studio 2008 Std (version see below) I have an ugly mis-rendering on every table on the printout. I have SP2 applied on the client (Managment Studio) and on the server. It looks like "a part of a window" is drawn below each table.

    I did:

    1. Create new diagram
    2. Add Table
    3. print diagram to pdf printer or real laser printer

=> same result ugly printout with portion of a window under the table.

I went and used  MS SQL Management Studio 2008 R2. And it worked (from another PC). Directly on the server using SQL 2008 Managment tools it produced the same distorted output.

This is annoying. What am I doing wrong?
    Any tips are welcome

    Best regards
    ZUIOPL

  • Hi,
It's a problem of encountred by many users, proceed like that:
    - Zoom to visible level (75%-100%).
    - Database Diagram menu, copy diagram to clipboard.
    - MSPaint - Paste - Print

I will do my best to find solution to this problem.

  • Hi Maher riahi

The formatting of the elements to one page was not the problem. The problem was each table has a distorted look (ugly). Thanks anyway.

  • Hi Maher

This tip with copy paste is ok. It helps a bit, but it is not very nice for small tables because the pixels are somehow limited in the clipboard.

I'll thank you when you are working on this and find a solution. I'll live with the distortion in future (unhappy).

While you are on it, you could please (if you have time) correct also the annoying behaviour of the scroll bars on the tables. They appear/disappear depending on the view zoom! When I resize a table exactly so the scroll bars disappear, after changing the zoom level there appears a empty space below the the column names or the scroll bar appears depending increasing/decreasing the view zoom. I would not expect that. When i change zoom level in Word the layout does not change. It would not be that worse when the appearing scrollbars would not hide the end of the column names and the last column.

    Wish you a good day

  • Its me again, sorry, continuing my post orgy...

I later also installed the client tools of SQL Server 2008 R2 on my 32 Bit windows XP system. Same behaviour. Printout ugly. At my co-workers PC (64Bit win7, not 100% sure) everything ok.

    regards

  • The person who does the diagram printing code for SSMS should follow the steps you outlined. They worked great, and it seems like a very simple solution to invoke programatically.
