Schedule Software update package

    Question

  • Can I schedule Software update package to be sent for a Distribution Point over the night, like I do with my Software Distribution packages?

i.e. I have a SU Package in my Main office, I need to send/update this package with all my DP in branch offices. But I want to do this over the night, how can I schedule this?

  • There is no setting in the Update Deployment package to control it. Are the branch dp's in another ConfigMgr site? then you can use the adress configuration to control the traffic.

  • I installed one dafault distribution point in each site, so I have a Desfault DP in my main office and a DP on each of my 7 branch sites.

How can I control this? To update this I will have to work manualy every time?

    thanks a lot

  • Hi,

You could have a look at the SDK. Here you will find an example on how to create an Update deployment package and how to add updates to the package.

  • Hi,

    cscript UpdateDPs.vbs SMSSERVERNAME SMSSITECODE SMSPACKAGEID

So if the SMS Server name is "SMSLAB", site code of "LAB" and the Package ID is "LAB00023", the command line would be:

    cscript UpdateDPs.vbs SMSLAB LAB LAB00023
