SCVMM Library

    Question

  • My question is in regards to setting up libraries for SCVMM. We currently manage 2 Hyper-V host servers. We are installing SCVMM on a virtual server running in one of the Host servers. When I go to setup the libraries for SCVMM do I chose the local drive on the host servers where all our VMs are placed? If I can do that then what do I do with the “small” and “large” Blank Disks?

  • A VMM 2008 configuration can have multiple VMM Library Servers configured. The Library Server is commonly installed on the same system as the VMM Server, although for larger mission critical configurations, it is recommended that the VMM Library Server be deployed on a failover cluster file server

you can move your library resources between different shares

If you decide to locate the Library on a different server you can simply move those disks to the new location.

There al multiple possibilities for locating a Library eg. Local drive, other server or clustered file server service.

Depending on the needs or resources of your organization you can choose between these options.
