RPCSTAT and portmap

    Question

  • These are typically off in our environment.

There are default monitors for each.

Are these required for any of the Linux agent work-flows?

If so where is this documented?   Thanks!

  • My initial guess is that the OpsMgr agent for Linux/UNIX doesn’t have any dependencies on these processes, as the agent doesn’t initiate or respond to any RPC operations.   Having these turned off is not a configuration that we test with, so there could be a dependency that doesn’t jump out in the initial thought experiment.  But since the out-of-box management pack for includes monitors for these processes, one presumes that the agent will be able to report that these processes are no longer running, and hence the agent should still be working if they terminate or are not running.
