How to enable SQL Server 2005 Replication Monitoring

    Question

  •

We just recently set up several databases for replication on a monitored SQL 2005 Server. When I look at the SQL health state it show as Not Monitored under the Replication columns.

How can I enable the monitoring process?

  • This is because the Object Discoveries related to SQL replication components, subscribers, publishers, etc. are DISABLED by default.

    To fix this:
    Go to the Authoring space.
Change Scope to all object types with SQL 2005 in the name
Look at all the Object Discoveries with a value of NO in the "Enabled by Default" column.
Create an override for "All objects of type..." and set Enabled=True

Then give discovery a few minutes to a few hours to run, and you'll have replication components discovered and monitored.

  • So did you override the following object discoveries? These are definitely not enabled by default.

    -Discover  Replication Components

-Discover Replication Publicatoins and Subscriptions Discovery Provider

  • I can not find Replication Components or Replication Publications and Subscriptions

I see some Replication types under the Discover SQL 2005 Database Engines but this is already enabled.

How do I get to The Discover Replication Components section in order to override them???
