Unable to push SCCM client agent from SCCM server.

    Question

  • Hello All,

I have created a DC and installed DHCP in the same and created another ADC in hyper-v and configued SCCM 2007 Sp2 in  the virtual machine (win server 2008 SP1) all setup went well and after that configured all options by following the MS guid.

Under Collections>All Systems i am able to find the all member Pcs also but while trying to push Client agent from SCCM server by right clicking on computer available under "all system"

wizard is completing proerly but on client computer nothing is happening. i treid executing the ccmsetup.exe on the computer manually but still nothing is happening.

Can some one assist me where i am doing wrong?

An early responce will be highly apprecaited.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

You need to start with configuring Boundaries for the SCCM Site so the client is assigned to the correct site otherwise it will not complete the installation even if you run it on the client using ccmsetup.exe

  • You say nothing is happening, but what are your expectations after running ccmsetup or client push? It is a completely silent setup.

Have you looked at ccm.log on the server to review the client push process?

Have you looked at ccmsetup.log on the client to review the client setup process?

  • Hello Jason,

After pushing the client agent from SCCM server, we can see the "ccmsetup.exe" is runing in the task manger of clients but after some time it is getting disappeard without complete installation.

After that i went to control panel to check wather it is successfully installed or not but i am unable to find any icon related to SCCM agent there.

Please find the screen shot for the same.

Please suggest accordingly. if there is a problem with boudry configuration or any thing else "ccmsetup.exe" will not reach to clints but i am not suere wather it is correct or not.

Please suhggest accordingly we are going to implement this in our production system.

    Thanks,

  • See ccmsetup.log on the client.
The SMS Agent Host process is called ccmexec.exe

The Control Panel applet is called "Configuration Manager"; SCCM has nothing to do with ConfigMgr.

You'll need to check ccmsetup.log (and maybe client.msi.log) in c:\windows\ccmsetup to defintiviely tell you what's going on (as suggested by Torsten).

  •

    Agree.

First, please check if the client agent is installed successfully in the ccmsetup.log file.

If it is completely successfully, you may also go to %windir%\System32\CCM\SMSCliUI.exe or %windir%\SysWOW64\CCM\SMSCliUI.exe to check if it is able to open the client properties.

  • Hello Jason,

I verified CCMSETUP.log and found there is some problem with "webdev" settings in SCCM server, i verifed the "webdev" settings and found it is exactly same as given on in Microsoft guide. There are some other things i noticed but i am not much clear about it. Could you please verify the log and suggest me where exactly happening wrong with my setup.

I am using windows7 professional 64 bit and windows xp sp2, as client.

An early respoce will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

  • You might want to uninstall MP and IIS, reboot and install it again: http://blogs.technet.com/b/configurationmgr/archive/2009/08/12/configmgr-2007-how-to-properly-reinstall-iis-in-windows-server-2008-on-an-sccm-2007-site-system.aspx

  • Check webdev authoring rule & settings. There might be some misconfiguration.  Also check mpsetup log there might you find regarding webdev misconfiguration.
