Cannot import configuration packs - Content schema validation failed

    Question

  • Hi,

I am having trouble importing oconfiguration packs into the DCM feature in SCCM SP2.
The import configuration data wizard shows [Content schema validation failed]
I'm trying to import the Microsoft Windows 2003 Config pack from Microsoft.
I've tried from my PC and the actual central site server and receive the same error.
    The smsprov.log shows the following

    [294][Wed 11/25/2009 09:37:49]:ERROR CSDMSource::InsertObject returned 12
    [294][Wed 11/25/2009 09:37:49]:

e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\siteserver\sdk_provider\smsprov\sspconfigurationitem.cpp(1929) : The digest is not valid
    *

    *
    *
    The digest is not valid

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know...I've tried to find the error in the forums with no luck..

  • In case anyone else is having a similar problem, in my case it turned out to be a problem with the SQL server I'm using to host the SCCM database.
It's a SQL 2008 cluster and after failing over to another node everything imports fine.
For the record I was getting similar errors in WSUS sync log...this pointed me in the right direction:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb735874.aspx :

Wsyncmgr.log Shows Error 12 and Invalid Schema

If you see the following entries in the wsyncmgr.log, there is a problem with SQL Server:

    sp_SetupSDMPackage returns an error

    DCM digest has invalid schema

    Possible Solution

    Restart the SQL Server service.

No idea what was wrong with it...all database access seemed fine...

    Just a little worrying!!
