Unable to read task sequence configuration disk.

    Question

  • I have in SCCM made a Task Sequence Media. I have installed windows xp sp3 enterprise on vmware esx 3.5 server. I then used the Sequence Media on the xp machine to make a .wmi file of the os. It all works until the machine restarts (after sysprep). Under "Initializing hardware devices" I get the following error: "Unable to read task sequence configuration disk. For more.........". When i look in the log smsts.log i found the following error:

Failed to find the current TS configuration path. It seams like it is trying to find e:\nts_sms_fre\sms\client\tasksequence\bootshell\configpath.cpp

That Is strange because I do not have any e drive?

Does anyone know how to fix this?

  • Did you had the VMWare disk drivers to your boot image?

  • I have added the scsi and network adapter driver, but it did not help.
Are there other drivers I have to add?
But in the log I cann´t find any errors about drivers.
