  • unless you are using NAP (network access protection, and i'm sure you are not) then you don't need to worry about this. ie: you can ignore it...

  • I have the same error in a 17 task TS.  The error is thrown on step three, so ignoring the error is not an option.  Can anyone identify the cause of the error, i.e., why the reg value cannot be deleted, and propose a workaround.

    TIA,

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

perhaps you could expand on this for us please?
Are you seeing this "error" in SMSTS.log on the client? Or some other logfile?

Personally, I've seen this "error" several billion times and since it always seems to occur in environments where NAP isn't used, I regard it as background noise and just ignore it.
We use OSD TS all day every day and never seen a TS upset by this "error".

  • Hi Don,

Thanks for the reply.  This is a TS that migrates XP workstation to Win7.  Let me correct myself, it stops on task 5, not 3, Release User State Store.  Up to the point of failure, the task sequence has successfully captured Windows and network settings, requested a User State store and capture user state data.  To give you some context, here are the last few lines on the smsts.log file on the client to be migrated:

Are you sure these entries are related?
If you allow that the SHA 0x80070002 "error" entry may be coincidental background noise, the question is: "why did TSManager just stop? Was it finished? Did it crash?"

  • Those are the entries from the smsts.log file on the client, so I believe they have to be related.  Yes, the TS stops, displays an error and starts the 15 minute countdown.  BTW - there is no value at the location in the registry cited.

    HTH,

  • Client version is older than Primary site service pack.  Update client version.
