Problems downloading updates using the SCCM console

    Question

  • Hello. I have setup a SCCM test environment. The environment is SCCM 2007 SP2 with R2 and MDT 2010 Update 1 integration. I am using SQL 2008 SP2 on the SCCM server. I have three servers. They are a DC, SCCM server and WSUS server. All servers are Server 2008 R2 x64 and are Hyper-V virtual machines. I setup a private virtual network for the three machines. For the WSUS server, I configured an additional network adapter that has internet access.

My plan is to use the WSUS server as the SUP. On the WSUS server, I installed the IIS based on (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc720452%28WS.10%29.aspx). I had problems installing WSUS using the role so I ran the WSUS SP2 x64 exe instead. I experienced no issues with that installation.

On the SCCM, I have the WSUS Admin console only. I added the WSUS server as a site system and made the server an active SUP. I do not use a proxy server so I did not configure this. It is configured to synchronize with Microsoft Update. I also configured what products, languages, and classification of updates to sync. I did not configure a schedule since I want to manually sync.

After installations and configurations, I did a sync and the catalog sync properly. The problem occurs when I try to download an update. When I try to download any patch, an error displays that the server name or address could not be resolved. If I look in patchdownloader.log, I see the below. Can anyone point me in the right direction to resolve this issue?

  • Hi,

    Error 12007 means Error_Internet_Name_Not_Resolved.

As there is no proxy used, please check the required port:

  • Do the ConfigMgr Site server have permissions to store updates in the Updates share?
