  • Which version of ConfigMgr are you running ? SP1 or SP2 ?

And which OS are you running the ConfigMgr Console from ?

I faced some problems with ConfigMgr 2007 SP1 and running the Console from a Windows 7 client.

When I ran the Console from a XP client it worked.

Are you able to get it to work if you use a CD/DVD instead ?

  • Hi,

How did you format the USB media?

Writes files to a USB flash drive. This option is enabled only if a USB flash drive is plugged into the local computer. The dropdown will be populated with the drive letters of suitable drives. If running on Windows Vista the USB flash drive will be formatted and made bootable. If running on an earlier version of the Windows operating system the drive must already be bootable. The best way to ensure that the drive is bootable is to format it on Windows Vista using this wizard. Once made bootable the drive's contents can be rewritten on computers running earlier versions of the Windows operating system.

    Important
You must format the USB media with the Windows Vista operating system. To format the media for Windows Vista, connect the USB media to a computer running Windows Vista and format the media. The FAT 16 file system format is not supported for use with USB media.

    Please try the following steps:

First make the USB driver bootable on a Vista machine using the following steps:
    1. Open a command prompt and type "Diskpart"
    2. Select disk 1
    3. Clean
    4. Create partition primary
    5. Select partition 1
    6. Format FS=FAT32 QUICK
    7. Active
    8. Assign

Once the USB driver has been configured, run the create media wizard again.
