SCCM Client Intall Problem on Windows 2003

    Question

  • I'm trying to fix a broken client on my windows 2003 system (Primary SCCM site server).  When I run the install i get MSI: Setup failed due to unexpected circumstances The error code is 80041002 in the CCMSETUP.Log.  I get the below errors in the client.msi.log.  I've ran WMI diag and of course I have WMI errors.  I'm unsure how to solve some of the problems beyond registering dlls and running mofcomp.  I don't see renaming then rebuilding the repository as an option.  I've listed a few of the errors wmi diag has output.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

It sounds like a WMI problem.  Try stopping the WMI service, rename the <%Windir%>\system32\wbem\repository to repository.old, restart the machine. This will force WMI to rebuild as well as make the SCCM client reinstall.  After this, see if the error returns.

    Thank's.

  • Is this really a good idea for an SCCM Primary Server?
