Installation of SCVMM SP1 CTP2 fails with "this computer is not running a supported operating system"

    Question

  • The title (should) say it all: I cannot install SCVMM 2012 SP1 CTP2. I tried the installation on a Win2008R2 x64 machine, which fails with this error message:

I scanned through the VMMLogs folder but couldn't find anything. Only SetupWizard.log contains any information (errlevel.log contains "0"). These are the contents of SetupWizard.log:

I tried to play around with the compatibility settings to no avail. And ideas? What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers,

  • This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough that enables you to test the new features of Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) in the community technology preview 2 (CTP2) of System Center 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1). This CTP is designed to be used with Windows Server® 2012 and to take advantage of new functionality that is provided by Windows Server 2012.

    Sincerely,

    Murat Demirkiran
