Answers

  • Open SCVMM console, in the upper left corner above the ribbon, click the down arrow, and then click About and enter product key.

If this is unavailable - reinstall VMM with "Retain data" option.

  • You can register using powershell

    Register-SCVMMAccessLicense -ProductKey “XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX” -AcceptEULA

  • If the eval has expired then you might not be able to actually use PShell to license the evaluation (you can't with SCOM for example as the SCOM SDK service won't execute the cmdlet).

If that is the case, then the other option is to reset the clock back on the VMM Server to pre-expiry date, run PSHell, and then reset the clock to the correct date. This does work for SCOM.

    Cheers

  • If the evaluation has expired the VMM cmdlet won't work. Setting the clock back doesn't affect this. I just wasted a call to Microsoft about this and they confirmed that you have to uninstall VMM, choose the option to retain the database, reinstall using the old database, and re-associate hosts.

  • If you have following update installed:

Update for Virtual Machine Manager-Console (KB2663960)

remove it, restart and start scvmm 2012.

apply new product key via powershell and install update Rollup 2

This worked for me. (I don't know  if it's supported) - use at own risk.
