AD replication OP master consistency monitor false/positive?

    Question

  • Hi,

Recently I received an events from the SCOM with the next details:

Forced to terminate the following process started at 10:34:56 AM because it ran past the configured timeout 120 seconds.

    Command executed: "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cscript.exe" //nologo "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 1\3964\AD_Replication_Partner_Op_Master_Consistency.vbs" XXXXX-VM.xxxx.xxx.xxx.local false
Working Directory: C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 1\3964\

One or more workflows were affected by this.

    Workflow name: AD_Replication_Partner_Op_Master_Consistency.Monitor

    Instance name: XXXXX-VM

    Instance ID: {2EC12CE5-0B88-7CBF-A06E-6AE3CD666D3E}

    Management group: CORPORATIVO

Besides this warning also I received in the SCOM the next alerts:

    AD Op  Master is inconsistent

Could not determine the FSMO role holder

AD Client Side - Script Based test failed to complete

This alerts are for the same Server. So I need to know if this events are really showing troubles with the replication between Domain Controllers or is just a problem of the monitor in SCOM? If there is this last option, what can I do to solve it?

    Many thanks for your assistance.

  • As this seems to be a timeout issue... you can try to manually run the script (run the "command executed"; \monitoring host temporary file 1\3964\ and after may vary though) and figure out why it is failing. It might just have to many replication partners and failing because the queries taking to long... if so, increase the timeout.

  • Exactly as it is written  "C:\WINDOWS\system32\cscript.exe" /nologo "C:\Program Files\System Center Operations Manager 2007\Health Service State\Monitoring Host Temporary Files 1\3964\AD_Replication_Partner_Op_Master_Consistency.vbs" XXXXX-VM.xxxx.xxx.xxx.local false"

Ofcourse with the correct name. Also the the location probably has changed by now, so that needs to be changed to the correct path. Without some basic knowledge about how scripts work, it'll be very hard to troubleshoot...

AD Replication Partner Op Master Consistency : The script 'AD Replication Partner Op Master Consistency' failed to execute. Incorrect number of arguments

Could you please tell me what it means?

    Many thanks.

I know you didn't execute the command, just doubleclicked the vbs. The parameters are given... XXXXX-VM.xxxx.xxx.xxx.local false
