P2V offline migration. where to find broadcom drivers ?

    Question

  • In the P2V conversion, I recieved a warning

    Error (13246):
No compatible drivers were identified for the device: Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client) #2. The offline physical-to-virtual conversion requires a driver for this device.

    Device Type: network adapter
Device Description: Broadcom BCM5708C NetXtreme II GigE (NDIS VBD Client) #2
    Device Manufacturer: Broadcom Corporation
Hardware IDs (listed in order of preference):
    B06BDRV\L2ND&PCI_164C14E4&SUBSYS_7038103C&REV_12

Compatible IDs (listed in order of preference):
    B06BDRV\L2ND&PCI_164C14E4&SUBSYS_7038103C
    B06BDRV\L2ND&PCI_164C14E4
    B06BDRV\L2ND

    Recommended Action:
Create a new folder under C:\Program Files\Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2\Driver Import on the Virtual Machine Manager server and then copy the necessary 32-bit Windows Vista driver package files for this device to the new folder. The driver package files include the driver (.sys) and installation (.inf and .cat) files. Check the device manufacturer's website for the necessary drivers.

I visit broadcom website. but I can't find the driver.

    anyone can help, please????

  • I've still never found a set of Broadcom drivers that work in the offline P2V WinPE environment.  :(

Instead I now have an Intel PCIe NIC that I install and move the IP to prior to the conversion.  It's a hassle but it's the only reliable solution I have found.  Hopefully on the next version of SCVMM the team will test on a real Dell PowerEdge server.

  • The answer from Broadcom support:

You need to use the RIS driver for WinPE.  You can get this driver from:

     http://www.broadcom.com/support/ethernet_nic/netxtremeii.php?archive=1

In my case everything works well

Hi, I am getting the same exact error.  I tried your link above but under the RIS driver section, it's telling me to modify the b06nd.inf file.  I can't seem to find this file anywhere.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks for your help.
