Unable to block Chat using TMG 2010...?

  Hi,

  you can use the URL protection Feature of TMG to block this URL category. Another was is to use the HTTP Filter of TMG to create a HTTP signature to block the Messenger

  Hello,

  I would agree with others.

  You can block chat based on categories filtering: http://blogs.technet.com/b/isablog/archive/2010/01/03/categories-for-url-filtering.aspx

  Another option is to block chat based on signatures. More here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc302627.aspx

  Please make sure that the default gateway of the client machines point to TMG internal ip address.

  We are using TMG as Proxy but not Gateway.... can we do as suggested....?

  Hi,

  Thank you for the update.

  If you have set another gateway, the traffic will bypass the TMG server. So you are unable to block Chat using TMG server.

  What exactly are you trying to block? If it is Skype, then you must have HTTPS inspection enabled to be able to block it.

  Make sure you also have the 'use non primary categories' box ticked on each filtering rule.

  What do the log entries on TMG say when someone accesses a chat site?
