I have two EX2010 servers. We’ll call them EX-A and EX-B, the EX-A is our older
EX2010 server that is being decommissioned for the time being due to Hardware
Issues it does not have any Mailbox DB’s, but it does still have a dismounted
Public Folder. EX-B is our new EX2010 server that now has all the MailBox DB’s
and a new Public Folder on it that has been replicated over from the old one on
EX-A, the replication was done over the phone with a MS Tech by adding the new
EX-B to the Replication tab on each folder in Public Folders via the Public
Folder Management Console. Once replication was complete, we just dismounted
the old one on EX-A.
EX-A Public Folders is no longer needed since it was
replicated to the EX-B, but I need to be able to remove the Public Folder from
EX-A so that I can remove all the roles and decommission the server. I have
re-mounted the public folders on EX-A but get this Error:
What's my best course of action to get rid of the old Public Folders on EX-A and not affect anything going on with Public Folders or anything else on EX-B?
I had read about a PS script to move replicas, but the data in the EX-A Public Folders is old and was worried about inconsistent data getting replicated. Another options had something to do with ADSIEdit and removing entries there.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
EX-A – EX2010 SP1 RU 3-v3 (Server has all 3 Roles)
EX-B – EX2010 SP1 RU 6 (Server has all 3 Roles)
Thank you for your help and input in this matter!

How sure are you the content was replicated, did you do a item/size compare between the 2?
I would do that by using Ex-Folders, make sure everything has replicated because that message indicates it hasn't, then I would try and remove again.

You can refer to the following article to troubleshoot this issue:

Everything looks up to date and has replicated correctly in
each Public Folder Database. I also tested this by deleting an old TEST Public
Folder off of the OLD Server EX-A and it removed it after replication from the
new Public Folders-01 on the new EX-B server.
My Public Folder databses look like this:
Public Folders <- OLD on OLD Server EX-A
Public Folders-01 <- NEW on NEW Server EX-B
Now looking into those with ExFolders I see that
Public-Foders-01 on the New Server EX-B still has EX-A on a few of the folders
within Public Folders-01 as a Replica Server, including the System Folders.
To get past this and to remove the OLD Public Folders on
EX-A, do I need to remove EX-A as a Replica from all the folders on EX-B's
Public Folders-01? I see I can do this via ExFolders or from the Public Folders
Here is a screenshot of one of the folders in the NEW Public Folders-01 Showing Replicas:
Just so I can clarify, should I be removing any reference of the old EX-A server from the Relpicas to be able to remove / delete the OLD Public Folders?
Thanks for your assistance in this!

yes, just remove the old PF DB.
You can check the item count too.

Thanks Sukh for your advice on the removal process of the public folders.
So you were right on the end, it seems there was a couple replicas left, but once they were removed I could still not delete the public folder.
As an end result I wound up going into ADSIEdit and removing the public folders there from the Administrative Group. Once that was done, *poof* it was gone in the EMC. So now it's on to the decommison of the old Exchange Server!
Thanks again for your help!

Hopefully that's the end of PF in your org!
