    Hi ,

    Please let me know solution for below error :

    Error category    : Security Errors
    Error: e0001904 - A failure occurred querying the Writer status.  Writer Name: Exchange Server, Writer ID: {76FE1AC4-15F7-4BCD-987E-8E1ACB462FB7}, Last error: The VSS Writer failed, but the operation can be retried (0x800423f3), State: Failed during prepare snapshot operat

    Hi,

    Have you tried rebooting your srver as suggested in the KB article of Symantec?

    Please try the solution from Symantec firstly:

    http://www.symantec.com/connect/forums/backupexec-2010-r2-vm-exchange-2010-error-backupjob

    I also suspect it might be your database issue, if that doesn't work you can try recreate a new DB and move all the mailboxes here.

    Then try again.

       Hi Johan,

       Yes, We have rebooted the server to get it workand then the backup job runs without this error- but cant afford to reboot the exchange server everytime.

    Even we have tried to recreate a new DB and move all the mailboxes here. No luck

    I like to add one more comment on this. As you mentioned above, after the exchange server reboot about 15days there will be no issue in taking the backup, on 16th day, again the VSS writter issue will appear.

    Even we tried to re-register the DLL files in Exchange but no luck for this also.
