Cannot send e-mail invitations from Meet Now meeting in Live Meeting
-
2 พฤษภาคม 2551 17:20I have a user here at my corporation that I am training on Live Meeting 2007. He can connect to the Live Meeting manager fine, and he can initiate a meet now meeting fine, but once he is in the meeting and he tries to send an e-mail invite for someone to join the meeting, an error message pops up stating: "unable to send e-mail invitations. If you have Microsoft 2002 or later, make sure it is your primary e-mail program and then try again." This user Has Office 2003 sp3 loaded on his PC. Outlook 2003 is set as his primary e-mail program in IE. I have checked his registry keys at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE|Clients|Mail and Microsoft Outlook is set as the default. I have reinstalled Office 2003 professional, I have removed Outlook from his PC and reinstalled it, I have made him an admin of his PC, just in case it was a permissions thing, I have cleared cookies and temp internet files. I have rebuilt his mail profile. I have removed the Live Meeting 2007 client and reinstalled it, all to no avail. He has no issues on any other PC. If I log into his PC with my login name, I have no issues sending e-mail invites from Live Meeting. We are at a large corporation and running our e-mail on an Exchange 2003 environment. What gives? Anyone with any suggestions would be most welcome!

I tried this, but it still did not fix the problem for me, but maybe it will for others;

SYMPTOMSWhen you try to send an e-mail invitation Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:Unable to send e-mail invitations. If you have Microsoft Outlook 2002 or later, make sure it is your primary e-mail program and then try again. 1. Start Internet Explorer. 2. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options. 3. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the Programs tab. 4. Under Internet programs, click Microsoft Office Outlook in the E-mail list, and then click OK. Windows Vista
If the issue still occurs after you follow the previous steps, follow these steps.1. Open the Default Programs item in Control Panel. To do this, click Start. type default programs in the Start Search box, and then click Default Programs in the Programs list. 2. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program. 3. In the Protocols list, select MAIL TO, and then click Change program. 4. Click Microsoft Office Outlook, click OK, and then click Close.
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Type Microsoft Outlook in the Value data box, and then click OK. 5. Exit Registry Editor. -
27 สิงหาคม 2551 11:50That didn't help. I'm having the same problem on my machine with OCS, which Live Meeting is a part of. Registry is set up as above, Outlook is set as default program for all applicable options in IE (email, contacts, calendar).
I'm running Windows XP Pro, Office 2007 and Live Meeting 2007. Previously I had Thunderbird (removed) and Outlook 2003 (updated to 2007). -

This is a rarely-seen issue; the only solution we've found so far is to delete the Meet Now meeting (using the Live Meeting API) and re-create it. If it's still happening please open a ticket with Live Meeting Tech Support (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/livemeeting_oas) and then make your choice:
1. If you want Live Meeting Development to look at it, have Tech Support escalate the issue for troubleshooting rather than having them delete your MeetNow
2. If you just want it to work, ask Tech Support to delete your Meet Now meeting (note this choice may require escalation)

Has anyone come up with a difinitive resolution to this? It still happens here, but only seems to be happening with some Office 2007 users. Office 2003 users have no problem. LM 2007 client is loaded on all machines. -

We experienced this issue with our deployment of Microsoft Office Live Meeting 2007. One month prior to this rollout we had switched from Lotus Notes to Microsoft Outlook 2007. I saw the Microsoft KB alert on this telling me to change the HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail (Default) key to Microsoft Outlook. Unfortunately mine was already set to that. I then recreated the error with regmon running in the background and found that Live Meeting was looking at HKCU\Software\Clients\Mail (Default) which was actually set to Lotus Notes. Once I changed this key to Microsoft Outlook my problem was solved.
Long story short, check HKLM AND HKCU\Software\Clients\Mail (Default) to make sure they are set to Microsoft Outlook.

Making the change in HKCU as well as HKLM worked for me. Thanks for the info.

Thank you! Although my HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail (Default) was set to "Microsoft Outlook", my HKCU was not. Changing to HKCU\Software\Clients\Mail (Default) to "Microsoft Outlook" resolved the issue. Cheers!

21 ตุลาคม 2553 21:28Excellent answer, everything was as the post below but as yours instructed to check HKCU I was able to see that default was still set to Lotus Notes. I was migrated to Outlook recently and was going nuts trying to figure this out, thanks a bunch

To All
Maybe its a silly point but...all you, that have still an issue with Live Meeting, after editing HKLM and HKCU registry keys please make sure that you have appropriate Live Meeting version installed accordingly to your MS Outlook version (they have to be compatible). Secondly, please make sure that your Live Meeting Add-In is enabled in MS Outlook. Guide on how to do so can be found here: How to enable Live Meeting Add-In in MS Outlook.
If you will need some help with configuring your Live Meeting please go here: How to configure Live Meeting.
And finally, if you will need to download it, download its upadtes or maybe read more, just go here: Download Conferencing Add-In for MS Outlook.
Hope this helps.
Good luck people!
