Unanswered Sharepoint Foundation 2010 can't open explorer view with companyweb

I'm running a SBS 2011 server standard edition, and I'm working on getting a SharePoint Foundation site setup, but when I click explorer view on a document library I get the following error messages: "Your client does not support opening this list with windows explorer" This only happens though when I connect to the site through http://companyweb. If I connect to the site through RWA explorer view works fine. I do have a SSL certificate applied to the remote website. I'm wondering if the problem is because I'm not using SSL to connect to companyweb? Or is something miss-configured somewhere. The behavior occurs on a client running windows 7 with office 2010 installed.

Thanks for the suggestion Fadi, but I've currently got http://companyweb and https://companyweb added to local intranet zone and the problem is still there.

    Hi,

Which browser are you using , i believe IE 9 is not supported.

    Pls check

Step 2. Ensure the WebClient service is not disabled. The WebClient service is critical to the Open in Windows Explorer feature. Its the WebClient service that does all the hard work and cleverness to make Windows Explorer think that a SharePoint Online document library is just a regular Windows folder. To check the WebClient service is not disabled, open up the Services program (Start menu then search for Services). Scroll down until you find the WebClient service. Its startup type should be set to either Manual or Automatic. If it is set to Disabled then change it to Manual. Note that it will start automatically when it is needed; you don't need to start it yourself.

Previously I was using IE9 on windows 7 64bit client so I uninstalled IE9 and rebooted and tried opening the library again but it didn't work. I also saw that article before and made sure that the webclient service was started on the server and client. The article also suggests installing Microsoft Online services but I assume that should be unnecessary for Sharepoint Foundation on SBS2011? IE9 is still installed on SBS2011 however. Should this make a difference or should I uninstall it too?

I've tried opening in IE8 32 bit without success. Since I can open in explorer view over SSL but not companyweb could something not be configured properly? I also noticed that If I go to https://companyweb/ then I get a certificate error, and get redirected to IIS7.
