Hi. Recently, we've had an incident with SCVMM 2008 R2, when it failed storage migration of a VM from one CSV volume to another. The process couldn't be canceled/reverted or completed whatever we tried.
After some manual work, we've managed to copy the VM to a new one and restored all data, removing lingering snapshots etc.
Then we proceeded with manual deletion of the VM from the CSV, because SCVMM still saw the VM in the failed state. We could delete all files but the main VM XML config. This caused that SCVMM now reports the VM as "Incomplete VM Configuration" and we're still unable to delete the XML file and the VM folder from the CSV as it's probably locked by some process.
I should note that cluster manager itself doesn't see the VM anymore, it's just VMM insisting on the VM being there. How can I delete remnants of this VM, so that VM doesn't show it anymore?
Would editing the VMM database by hand work?
