Look into WindowsUpdate.log and ReportingEvents.log if there are any errors or warnings. Read files from bottom up.

Hi,
First of all, winsxs is a directory which stores multiple copies of dll’s in order to let multiple applications run in Windows without any compatibility problem. In short, winsxs, which stands for ‘Windows Side By Side’, is Windows native assembly cache. Libraries which are being by multiple applications are stored there. Therefore, the files in winsxs do not used by system, they are just a copy or backup.
For more detailed information about winsxs, please refer to What is the WINSXS directory.
And, for updating, we just need to focus on the files in System32 and SysWOW64.
Then, please refer to MS12-019: Vulnerability in DirectWrite could allow denial of service: March 13, 2012 and note this table:
According to it, we can see, for this update, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 GDR should update the file which version is 6.17601.17xxx in the lists of file version. Other versions is for other Product, Milestone and Service branch.
In other words, if you run 64-bit Windows 7 with Service Pack 1, and after querying the table: For all supported x64-based versions of Windows 7 and of Windows Server 2008 R2, we can see the Security Update KB2665364 only updates the file Dwrite.dll to version 6.1.7601.17776. And there is no need to update other files in the table.
Therefore, please check whether the version of Dwrite.dll is 6.1.7601.17776 in System32 and SysWOW64. If so, we can conclude that the Security Update KB2665364 has been installed successfully.
Furthermore, if you have concern about GDR and LDR, please refer to What is the difference between general distribution and limited distribution releases.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Based on the current situation, please let us know the following:
1. Does the issue occur in every client or just in this one?2. How did you deploy the update?
3. If you also deployed other updates, did you install them successfully with the correct version?
Meanwhile, please try the following:
1. If it shows that the update was installed successfully in Windows Update history, please also double check windowsupdate.log to make sure that no error occurred.2. If there is no any error, please try to uninstall the update, manually download and reinstall it and see how it works.
Hope this helps.

1. Independently from this forum you can address MS support here http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/bb980617.aspx
2. What other software do you have on your computers?
3. Have you tried to install on clean booted computer(s)?
Regards
