คำถาม Yet another Error 43 problem with Windows 7

  • 28 มีนาคม 2555 22:23

    I have a Nikon D50 SLR which has, in the past, worked perfectly with my Dell Optiplex 755 running Windows 7 64 bit. All drivers and BIOS software are up to date. I have had no recent hardware changes or software additions since I was last able to upload photos from the camera but Windows 7 now won't read the camera failing with the apparently common problem of Error 43. I have done all of the following:
    Ran FixIt
    Deleteted all of the USB controllers in Device Manager and allowed Windows to re-install them per instructions found in the formus
    Run Systems File Checker which reports "No Integrity Violations"
    Cold booted the system multiple times
    Re-formatted the memory card in the camera

    None of this has corrected the problem. The camera can be read sucessfully on my Windows XP laptop and on my Wife's Windows 7 laptop so I seriously doubt that there is anything wrong with the camera. Could there be a problem with a recent Windows Update? With the number of messages on these forums related to this error it appears to me that there is a systemic problem with the USB support in Windows 7. Is anything being done about this and how do I get this to work correctly again?

    Hi,

    The error message means Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. Please see the following article.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc725873(v=ws.10).aspx

    If you have already tried reinstalling USB controllers, Please try pluging it into another USB ports for a test. For exmaple the USB ports on the back of this box.

    If you'll re-read my original post, I had already run Fixit and SFC with no luck. I had also tried a different port but neglected to mention that in my message.

    might be time to backup the system and install windows clean, usually when fixit fails it a real mess

    Hi,

    Please try to delete the driver of camera, then plug it in=>Upload the log file setupapi.dev.log to Skydrive. I will take a look.

    Also, if the Camera cannot get enough power from the USB port, it cannot operate correctly either.

    I have used a wide range of digital cameras, including Canon, and I have never ever seen a problem with USB power running the camera.

    In practice though I remove the SD card and use the integrated reader on my portable. I have accumulated a lot of SD cards over the years.

    Nikon is respectable too, so I believe the problem is more likely to be driver related

    I've uploaded the file to my public folder on Skydrive. Note that the camera does not have a device specific driver. It appears as a disk device when connected. Also it is battery operated and I don't believe that it derives power from the USB port. When connecting, even after uninstalling the driver, it is reported as an "Unknown Device". Also, it has been working fine on the subject computer until just recently and works fine on two other computers, one of which is an old Fujitsu Windows XP laptop with only USB 1 ports and the other is a Dell laptop with Windows 7. With those computers it is identified as a Nikon D50.

    Hi,

    Although the camera has a battery, it still need power support from USB port. Please post the file link you uploaded to Skydrive.

    Hi,

    From the log, I find that the driver is installed successfully. Based on my understanding, the camera may act as a removable storage. Can you please try to insert your Windows Installation Disk, then plug-in the Camera to check whether it can be detected under Windows PE.

    its possible you have malware, if you have another disk, install windows on that then slave the original disk and scan it with Security essentials, see my IT site for links

    PC Tools Spyware Doctor, Trend Micro Housecalls, and Malwarebytes all show the system as clean. I don't have another disk handy but I could try to run Security Essentials from WinPE if you think that would work and be any help.

    it would be advantageous to procure another disk, it could be used subsequently for backup in case the unthinkable happens

    Hi,

    You may choose to repair Windows, then click System Image Recorvery=>Slect a System Image=>Advanced=>Click Install a Driver=>Click Computer to check whether the storage appears there.

    Sorry, I was busy with other things. The camera did not appear as a disk device in PE.

    Regarding the code 43, the controller is failing in some way in response to IRP_MN_QUERY_PNP_DEVICE_STATE. Can't really say much from logs what the issue is. Do other USB devices work? Try updating the usbport and usbhub drivers:

    !!!  dvi:                Device not started: Device has problem: 0x2b: CM_PROB_FAILED_POST_START.

    Other than this, you seem to have set some Device Install restrictions, try removing them:

    From logs:

         pol:      {Device installation policy check [{A3535E08-EB26-49A9-8AE0-786ED1242812}\VID_046D&PID_C52B&REV_1201&MI_02\7&28DAD296&0&00]}
    !!!  pol:           The device is explicitly restricted by the following policy settings:
    !!!  pol:           [-] Restricted Hardware or Compatible ID:
    !!!  pol:           [-] Restricted setup class of selected driver: {745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da}
    !!!  pol:      {Device installation policy check [{A3535E08-EB26-49A9-8AE0-786ED1242812}\VID_046D&PID_C52B&REV_1201&MI_02\7&28DAD296&0&00] exit(0xe0000248)}
    !!!  ndv:      Installation of device is blocked by policy!

    Also your driverstore seems to be in corrupted state. Did you at any time manually delete/ edit files from driverstore or   %windir%\inf:

    !!!  inf:      Error searching published INFs - likely system corruption!
    !!!  inf:      Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified.

    All other USB devices work properly. About a year ago I did have a similar problem with one specific Hitachi external USB hard disk drive which originally worked and then gave me the same error on subsequent attempts to connect it. It also worked correctly on other computers. I no longer have that drive.

    I'm not sure how I would update the drivers you suggest. I have never done any policy editing or editing of files in the inf folder on this computer. Is there any way to fix driverstore corruption other than re-installing from scratch?
