Answered Cannot load the Remote Access Connection Manager Service errors. Error 711

    Newer Dell Experion 546 Computer running Windows 7 Home Premium.  Set up back in Nov.  Have been accessing work computer using VPN connection, then remote desktop from November through the end of the year.  Beginning  a couple of weeks ago (after 1/1), using the same method of access, I began receiving the error shown above.   It is followed by:
        Error 711:  The operation could not finish because it could not start the
        Remote Access Connection Manager service in time.  Please try the
        operation again.
    I have deleted the VPN connection and re-entered it again and still receiving the error.

    Dell support offered no help, only to contact their paid support staff, as it was likely related to a "third party software".  Windows support refers me to Dell, unless I want to pay the $49.  Turned off McAfee Anti-Virus and tested, with same results.  Contacted McAfee and they ran through some troubleshooting and still could not resolve.

    Was able to get into the services list and checked the dependencies and they all appeared ready to start.  Tried starting Remote Access Manager manually, but received errors about failures in the dependencies:  Error 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start.

    Was able to find the driver for Remote Access (RasAcd).  Running Remote Access Auto Connection Driver 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.0713-1255).  Status was shown as working properly.  Started it and Startup is shown as Demand.

    No windows updates were loaded after my last VPN login before I started receiving the errors.  Have seen some other posts on here about regedits, but they all appear to be in XP forums or regarding XP machines, so I'm very hesitant to do one.  Not to mention that it's a bit over my head, but I can follow directions well.

    Hi,

    Please start the following services and verify the status to Manual.

    Telephony service

    Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service

    Plug and Play service

    After that, please check whether the Remote Access Connection Manager service can be started now.

    If the error message persists, I suggest you also refer to the following article:

    You cannot create a network connection

    Thanks,

    Novak

    Hi, Novak.  I have tried starting them all manually, but then I get a dependencies error even though all my dependencies are running.  I tried a restore.  The first one wasn't far enough back.  The second one failed due to "registry" problems.

    Ive seen many solutins for registry hacks on various forums and service packs, but each and every one of them refers to XP.  I'm running Windows7.

    And also, cannot figure out why it worked for months and then started failing after the first of the year.

    Thanks for reply.

    Exactly the same problem, dear kryanagain...

    Since yesterday, impossible to get a connection (same errors 711 and 1068). Fortunately, i have also a modem-router I can connect (wifi).  Windows 7 too

    I also have an error 5 access denied when i try to start the event viewer...

    It seems to be a problem in the registry.  Nobody can help us :-(((

    HELP !

    I am experiencing exactly the same with my Win7. None of the proposed hacks from other forums did work.

    Any solution in sight?

    I am experiencing this same problem.  A year later and this still doesn't have a solution in Windows 7?

    Dear Flozz1

            I was also had the same problem but I got ride of it.

    First: Start Computer

    Second: Go to C:\windows\system32\logfiles\WMI\RtBackup

    Third: Delete all files in the RtBackup folder.

    Forth: Now restart your computer

    Now You can connect Your internet connection.

                                                 Thank You.

    I was exactly with this problem, and after I've deleted these files and restarted the machine, the service went back to work. Incredible! What is the relation between these log files and the service it self? Windows things...

    Thank you for help!

    hi
    at least i solve this problem
    some of your registry key is destroy
    it is in rasman/parameters
    just open a notepad and copy this in it:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\RasMan\Parameters]
    "ServiceDll"=hex(2):25,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,52,00,6f,00,6f,\
      00,74,00,25,00,5c,00,53,00,79,00,73,00,74,00,65,00,6d,00,33,00,32,00,5c,00,\
      72,00,61,00,73,00,6d,00,61,00,6e,00,73,00,2e,00,64,00,6c,00,6c,00,00,00
    "Medias"=hex(7):72,00,61,00,73,00,74,00,61,00,70,00,69,00,00,00,00,00
    "CustomDLL"=hex(7):00,00,00,00
    "ServiceDllUnloadOnStop"=dword:00000001
    "AllowL2TPWeakCrypto"=dword:00000000
    "AllowPPTPWeakCrypto"=dword:00000000
    "KeepRasConnections"=dword:00000000
    "AllocatedLuids"=hex:
    save it as "rasman.reg" and then run it... restart your computer and every thing will be ok....
    ;)
    best regards
