Forcing all users of a workstation to use the same virtual machine in XP Mode
-
16 กุมภาพันธ์ 2555 14:14A client is upgrading several hundred workstations from XP to Windows 7. They have several legacy and internally developed applications that can't run under Windows 7, and for various resons have decided to use XP Mode rather than MEDV. Some of the workstations are shared among a number of users. When a new user logs on a new virtual machine in created acquiring a unique IP address from DHCP, which will rapidly deplete the DHCP scope. Is ther a way to force all users of a Win7 workstation to use the same VM? Many thanks.

Yes, but its not as easy as it sounds.
Take a look at the previous threads on this:

I think you can set that .vhd file as a shared file.

Hi Mark,
Yes, it is.
Virtual PC folder can be shared and access granted to users.
However; it can't be used in the same time.
Install Virtual PC and then XP and placed installation files on shared folder, c:\virtual (or any suitable name). Create shortcut access to anyone, who needs an access.
Other solution is to (as it is suggested) create .vhd drive.
