TMG 2010 behind SonicWall NSA240 SMTP inbound problems
-
30 Nisan 2012 Pazartesi 20:28Hello,
We have a SonicWall NSA 240 device in front of TMG 2010 (TMG configured in back firewall mode) All traffic except SMTP inbound is able to come through without problem. I can confirm that the SonicWall passes the SMTP traffic on but not beyond TMG. I have the SonicWall and TMG exteranl nic on the same network. TMG DG is set as LAN IP on SonicWall. I have an Mail Server Publishing rule with the perimeter, external and local host network selected going to the internal mail server for SMTP Server as the protocol and listening on Anywhere. I get a failed action for the SMTP when I try to telnet in on port 25 to my external source. It just states the target machine actively refused it. Any tips?
Thanks.

Hi,
please use https://testexchangeconnectivity.com to see detailed SMTP connection results.
The mailserver to be published is a SecureNAT client (DG points to TMG internal NIC)?
Are you able to Telnet port 25 from the TMG Server?regards Marc Grote aka Jens Baier - www.it-training-grote.de - www.forefront-tmg.de - www.nt-faq.de

I would check the TMG logging to see if the smtp connection comes in at all. My guess is that something is wrong with the configuration rules on the Sonicwall. Are you sure you created all the necessary objects on the sonicwall per http://www.sonicwall.com/us/support/2213.html?kbid=4535 ?
