    Good afternnoon

I have a problem with a shared excel document

    SBS 2008 Win 7 pro Office 2010

At my work place we have a shared spreadsheet that multiple users can edit at the same time.. no problem

How ever when this document is accessed over the VPN the document is read only

is there a way to make this editable as it would be if accessed locally

The spreadsheet is in a public shared folder on our main server

all other files and folders are accessible.

    Many thanks

    Stew

    Hi,

I would suggest you monitor on the permissions of the folder in which you put the workbook when you access it through VPN.
And you can test copying the file to another shared folder, and then open it.

I am also experiencing the same issue when connecting to my corporate network over a PPTP VPN.  I have checked the permissions of the file, and everyone in the domain has access to the file as well as the folder.  It does not seem to be a permissions issue based on the security permissions when examining the file or the folder that the file is in.  There has to be another root cause, please advise.

I have the same issue.  Works fine for everybody when they are in the office.  Get's 'Read Only' when accessing over VPN.  VPN is RRAS.
