Workflows not working anymore
-
17 Mart 2010 Çarşamba 22:44We just upgraded to 2010 beta, our workflows were fine until I needed to update them.
The workflows just send emails based on a status field in the current item. Sometimes they run, but the email fails because of an invalid recipient. Other times, they just don't run at all.
Any ideas? We're dead in the water.

17 Mart 2010 Çarşamba 22:56What do you mean when you say you "upgraded" to Beta? Upgraded from what and using what exact process?
Has the whole farm been properly converted and migrated to the point that all users are 100% valid already? I don't really think this is a workflow problem, but rather an upgrade problem. Beta is just Beta - it's not fully operational, but that doesn't mean this shouldn't have worked. I just want to get more details. I also want to make sure you know that you can't upgrade from Beta to RTM. I mention that, because you say you're "dead in the water" when Beta is only for testing anyway - can't be used for production and can't become production.
What kind of workflows are they? OOTB, custom SPD, or custom coded with Visual Studio?

17 Mart 2010 Çarşamba 23:04We are dogfooding it, inside Microsoft. We were on 2007, our IT group upgraded to 2010 in December. The workflows are basic list workflows that were built in the SharePoint Designer. After we upgraded, they were working fine. I made an update to all of them this morning(added some recipients to the CC lines), saved and published. After that about half stopped firing, and the few that do fire are failing because of invalid recipient.
Tool rule out malformed email addresses, I've even went as far as creating a dummy workflow, on creation of a new list item, it should send me an email. My address and the email text is all hardcoded. The workflow doesn't ever start. -
17 Mart 2010 Çarşamba 23:09Ah ok, so you don't have to worry about upgrading to RTM, so that's good.
It's also interesting that they did work even after the upgrade but then stopped as soon as you personally tried to change them. Can you create a new workflow that sends an email? Can anyone else change existing workflows and get them to work? What other details can you give?
Are teams within Microsoft aren't able to get MS help internally? (guess not, eh)

17 Mart 2010 Çarşamba 23:14But is it just pre-existing workflows that were upgrade or ANY workflow that gets created...even new ones? Do 2007 workflows that haven't been changed still work? I'm trying to determine if it's systematic issue or just isolated to upgraded workflows that get changed in 2010.

17 Mart 2010 Çarşamba 23:40Turns out our Exchange server was bogged down, the queue'd emails came through about 2 hours after the workflow had kicked them off.
I'm still seeing sporadic firing of the workflows, have to continue to track this down. -

Are you not able to answer those questions? I noticed you deleted your previous reply and haven't addressed my questions. Do you want us to help, or is there some political sensitivity?
