Can SSIS packages from SQL Server 2012 execute in SQL Server 2008?

Can SSIS packages developed in SQL Server 2012 be deployed to and execute in SQL Server 2008? I fear that the answer is "no," considering the prior threads I found about deploying SQL Server 2008 packages to SQL Server 2005.
