Hi There,
I'm trying to install the Vista Windows Installer 4.5 update via a group policy (seeing as WSUS doesn't deem installer 4.5 a worthy update). The group policy runs a start up script which calls the MSU file from a network share. The policy itself is working fine but the update is failing when run under the "system" context (which is what all startup scripts run under group policy run as). If I run the MSU file under a domain account with local admin access to a PC then the update works fine but I can't do this for every PC of course.
When I look in c:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log I can see the update failing with error code 0x80240020.
I have another group policy which runs the installer 4.5 update for XP and it works fine but the that update is installed as a .EXE instead of WUSA.
Any ideas anyone?

Hi,
I suggest you ask in the Group policy forum or the vista client os forum with your specific update issue.
We here focus more on the WSUS setup and operation.
