Office 2007 Ultimate Repair fails w/ "Microsoft Setup Bootstrapper has stopped working"

    السؤال

  • I'm trying to run the Repair option on my install of Office 2007 Ultimate. This is because it was recommended to fix the Windows Search errors I was seeing in the log about it not being able to recognize the protocol for mapi:// to search my Outlook e-mail files.

I went to Add/Remove programs and chose the Change option on my Office 2007 Ultimate install. Then I selected the Repair option from the setup program. It ran for quite a while and got about 3/4 of the way through then crashed. The following showed up in my Event Log:

Same problem as others. I tried using the DVD original as well as the Add/Remove programs. No luck.

Running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit full RTM version from TechNet Plus subscription.

  • It seems like your Office installation had gotten corrupt, maybe as a workaround you can try this: copy all files from your Office 2007 media to a local folder, run setup.exe from this local folder and use repair option. If the problem still occurs, follow this article and reinstall you Office suite.

  • I actually did copy the full install DVD to a local folder and ran a setup.exe /repair directly from the command line and even modified the config.xml file to give me full Verbose logging. It still crashed at the same spot. The end of the log file has this:

And the last two lines with DEBUG: Error 2746 actually repeats at least a hundred times until the application crashes.

I'm not sure the installation is corrupt as all the application seem to be working correctly.

I reason I tried the Repair option in the first place was because of these errors in my Event Log:

I was hoping the repair would fix the search problem but it uncovered yet another problem.

Unless the search into the Outlook mail requires that Outlook actually be running? I didn't think so, but perhaps that's the case.

    Does anyone know?

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for trying, but I'm running a client system so I don't have Exchange 2007 installed on here, never mind the Exchange System Manager tool.

I'm still getting these errors every day when the search gatherer runs. So far nobody has offered any solutions.

  • Here's a little info for your error code:

    http://www.updatexp.com/0xC0000005.html
    11/رمضان/1430 06:49 ص
  • That error code is too general to be useful. Just says the app went into a memory location it wasn't supposed to.

Errors still happening on a daily basis and no solution.

    Waiting ....

  • If the repair was unsuccessful try a clean install - uninstall/reinstall. Better luck.

  • I am having similar problems with a new clean installation of Office 2007 Ultimate on a brand new Windows 7 machine. Office installs but complains about the bootstrap installer (on the Office DVD) being incompatible with this version of windows . . . and repairs, reinstalls, or whatever does not help.

Most of the programs work but Outlook keeps giving errors: "Could not load an object because it is not available on this machine" and then followed by "Script Error" saying "Object required: GetPlayer (...) Line No. 561"

    Please help.
