Eror Code 80070241 when trying to update Win 7 (64-Bit)

    Frage

  • Hello!

I'm writing to you from Germany. So excuse any mistakes and the usage of may be not the right terms for this computery stuff (my windows is in german). :)

I bought my Lenovo Think Pad SL510 with an already installed Windows 7 (64-Bit). After around one year there suddenly was a problem when the sytem tried to install a Windows update. (I think, but it could be imagination, that it happened after I had allowed some Java thing to install an update.) And since then a little window pops up now and then to warn me, that I may have a fake windows version. But I don't - since it was already installed. (I'm not sure, but I think I registered the windows 7 version after I had bought the Laptop.)

So, I tried everything: Problem solving things in windows and the lenovo thinkVantage thing. I also tried to just activate the product key again but it didn't work. Btw there is no information of state or Product ID in the system control. When I try to install an update manually it can't find new updates and says: error code  80070241.

I looked for answers in various fora but never found my exact problem - only this problem after downloading to upgrade...

So: I don't have a registry cleaner installed. I only have avira antivirus and it can't update anymore(!) because it says I have "a fake windows" (or unregistered one).Therefor I tried to burn that recovery-CD from lenovo. But it would only burn a boot-disk, when burning the recovery-disks there was a problem while burning the third disk (overworked drive - no solution available). I couldn't finish it so I put that recovery thing on my external drive and tried to just install the windows 7 new (out of the system control). But it couldn't find the recovery disk on my external drive. Now i can't really do anything anymore to fix this problem. And I don't really want to use this laptop without an up to date antivirus software, you know.

So, I tried to write anything important so that someone can help me, please. Please! I'm not a nerd but am not afraid of working with the computer either. So if you write instructions for "dummies" I'm sure I can follow it.

    Thank you so much! Nele
