Windows 7 Missing Shortcuts to Network Locations

    Question

  • Left my system on during the weekend, during the weekend our servers were restarted due to patching.  When I came in this morning all of the shortcuts on my desktop to network locations (Network folders, applications, etc.) were gone.

    1.  Checked the Event Log, nothing explaining what happened.
    2.  Checked Recycle Bin, not in there.

I am speculating that since the network locations were not found that Win7 decided to remove the icons.

Anyone else have this problem?  If so how can we turn this off.

    Windows 7 64-bit RTM

    Thanks

I can't believe this feature made it out of Beta.

    thanks MSFT
