usb virtualization connector driver not installed with xp mode

    Question

  • I have installed XP mode and it's working but without usb support. In device manager on the host, there is no "USB Virtualization" node. How is this device installed? Where is the technical documentation for it? Where do you get the driver? If xp mode is already installed, how do you repair it or force the installation of this device?

  • XPMode is just the virtual machine, not the VPC application, there are 2 installs, the pre-made XPMode virtual machine, and Windows Virtual PC which allows you to use the XP Mode VM.

Try uninstalling the Windows VPC program and reinstalling it.  You can uninstall from Control Panel-->Programs-->Programs and Features-->Installed Updates-->Windows Virtual PC (KB958559)

Reinstalling just virtual pc worked. USB menu now appears. I assume the devices might work. This was all due to some bug in the original install.
