xp duplicate files - deleting

    Question

  • I have read all that I could find in relationship to this problem. I am finding duplicate files, today looking through the videos I tried deleting a couple of files that I did a search on and knew that they were definitely duplicate files - No doubt about it.
I tried several ways of deleting, holding down the shift key and dragging, highlighting the file and pressing the shift key and then the delete key, and just right clicking and choosing delete.  The file would disappear and the 2 seconds later re-appear, or when it disappeared it would take BOTH: the file I wanted to delete AND the other duplicate file.
So now what? Can someone please give me a solution to this pollution?
    - Please help if you have an answer?
    Thanks!!!

Not trying to be rude or anything, mind you. I just think you may have better luck finding an answer to your issue with one of the people there.

  • Hi Charismeuc

You should try Directory Report  http://www.file-utilities.com for finding duplicate files
It has a popup menu which clearly gives you the option of deleting files to the recycle bin or permanently deleting files.
No messing around with a shift-del key combo
