Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services

    Question

  • The following is what I find in the vent viewer of Windows 7 RC 32 : it comes back everyday.

It makes me feel uncomfortable - is there anything wrong on my system ?

    --------------------
Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards
    etc .....
    --------------------

    Thanks & kind regards

  • Are you seeing that in Event Viewer?  Oh duh.  I should read the first sentence of all posts.

I've had that issue for 2 years with Vista.  I solved it by disabling Windows Defender service.  (Actually, I put its startup option to manual).

    Yep - in Event Viewer.

Defender service is already disabled and set to manual.
I have added some details hereunder :

    ----------

    DETAIL -

  • Hi derosnec,

    I do not run OneCare.
But I run the new Microsoft Security Essentials (Morro), a beta of their antimalware software.
