microsoft visual c++ runtime library

    Question

  • This is not the usual microsoft visual c++ runtime library error

    I am getting the standard error and where it usually indicates the Program: IT IS Blank

    The only other clue is that the Icon is a big red X within a circle...

    In autoruns the only program icon similar to it is the program

    \Microsoft\Windows\DiskDiagnostic\Microsoft-Windows-DiskDiagnosticResolver            Windows Disk Diagnostic User Resolver            Microsoft Corporation            c:\windows\system32\dfdwiz.exe

    Hi,

    Did you try to reinstall the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86) to check this issue?

    What about to boot the computer in safe mode and Clean Boot to test this issue?

    Regards,

    That was the first thing I did... reinstall 2008 redistributale.  Then someone suggested my Java was out of date and that I should download ver 7.  I tried but the default download was v 6 update 29 and I only had update 26, so I took the update to 29 (the latest they offered)  No Luck after rebooting on either of the above...

    ANother clue is that when clicking on Event Viewer, I get the message 'MMC could not initialize the snapin'.

    If I ignore the runtime error describe above when clicking on Control Panel, Control panel will load after a long search.  If I say ok to the runtime error I get the message Windows explorer has stopped working... do you want to check online for a solution etc... either choice restarts explorer and reloads my desktop.  If I click on Network on the start menu, I get the same runtime error and ignoring it will allow me to display my network, but if I click on 'display full map' I get 'the page failed to load'.

    Thanks for your time and consideration and any pointers...

  • Did you install any programs or updates before the issue occurs?

    What's the detailed error you have encountered?

    regards,

    Sabrina
