Windows 7 Pro (x64) Bluetooth Headset

    Question

  • I just upgraded to Win 7 x64, and am trying to get my bluetooth headset to work.

I loaded the WidComm drivers, Bluetooth is working fine, it see's and connects to the headset.

But if I fire up music with Media player I get about 1 second of audio, then silence.
It continues playing but there is no audio. The slider on the volume control keeps moving.
If I close WMP and reopen it, I get the same 1 second of audio then silence.
WMP works fine through the speakers if I unplug the USB Bluetooh or disconnect the headset.

I tested the headset with my phone, works fine. I tested the headset under XP using the Widcomm XP driver and USB Bluetooth adapter, works fine.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled, several times, several ways, always with the same result.

    IOGear USB Bluetooh
    Headset ?? BTH S6A1 (??)

  • I got it working.

1). took battery out for 30 minutes.
    2). It still acted similiar.
    3). removed the pairing.
4). Re paired, worked better but cut in and out.
5). Disconnect, and turn off headset.
    6). Turned headset back on.

    It works !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Possiblity might be conflist pairing with phone (I moved the pohone upstairs right now).
Although when I tested with the Phone and XP the other day they were all together and it worked.

So no definitive reason for the solution, BUT IT WORKS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish I had a real solution but it works.

Thanks again for all the effort !!

  • Hello,

Does problem happen in other third-party media player like? Try to set your Bluetooth Headset
     as default playback device:

    1. Click start button->control panel->hardware and sound->sound
    2. Right click your Bluetooth Headset and choose "Set as Default device".

If the problem still happens, go to windows 7 compatibility center to see if your device is compatible with windows 7 or not.

  • Yes happens with everything.
Even testing with windows sounds, Click it works click it doesn't.

The Bluetooth adapter is on the compatability list.
The headset is not, although Windows does Id it.

Maybe I have to invest in a new headset.

    I hate that

  • Hi,

Is this the version of the Bluetooth drivers that you have installed for your HP DV6?

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-78154-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=4063&product=4074365

  • No I have the Widcomm, latest, driver.
This is an external USB adapter.
My laptop does not have Bluetooth built in.

    I can/will give it a try, but I think I did already.

  • Do you have a link to the driver you have installed? Who is the manufacturer of your USB Bluetooth dongle?

    Thanks,

  • It's the Widcomm driver, now on the Broadcom site.
    Search for it with Bing.

    Adapter is IOGEAR GBU221
Headset is BTH-S6A1 by Celltrends. It is a stereo earbud headset.

The headset works fine with my phone (WM6).
And on my antique XP laptop using the same adapter and the XP version driver. (Same DL).

I did install that HP driver, same results.

Again, it pairs fine, shows as connected in the Bluetooth device panel.
I get one second of sound, and nothing. If I restart WMP same this, 1 second of sound and nothing.
The volume bar shows the headset as the device and the little volume marker is bouncing.

Can you also check if it is the same driver version as from the IOGear web page? Here's a link to it.

  • He's everything, nothing in it confedential or ???

There is no driver for the headset ??

Yes that IOGear is the same driver, that is what I actually have running.
But go to Broadcomm and you get the same file.

  • You can delete all the extra info and just leave the Sound Devices info.

Lets try to get the version from device manager. If you go to the properties on the Hands-free, then click on the Driver tab. Please post the Driver Date: and Driver Version: data.

    Thanks,

  • I know I could have trimmed it back, I was just lazy, and hoped it might save a bounce.

Driver for the Bluetooth Headset and Handsfree is Broadcom, 8/25/2009, version 6.2.1.200

Driver file for both is btwavdt.sys

  • We don't have this specific headset, but we've tested this driver version and can't reproduce the issue.

    Please check these things.

    - Check if audio improves if headset is located very close to the adapter.
    - Make sure that WiFi adapter is not too close to Bluetooth.  Check if audio improves if WiFi is turned off.
    - If some other Bluetooth device is available like a PC or a phone, try sending a file to the other device and check data rates, and if data rates change if phone put further away.

    Thanks,
    Chris [MSFT]

  • Thanks for the update, and efforts.

I cannot test this till tonite or tomorrow.

I will then, and give you an update.

Wish I could figure out if it is the adapter (Which I do plan to replace), or the headset (Which I really like).

  • I  have a Toshiba Satellite, Belkin Bluetooth USB, and Samsung WEP 450 bluetooth headset.  The USB installed PNP.  Headset paired fine but I got an error message that the driver could not be found nor was it recognized by any application (Skype).  I downloaded a driver from this link: http://www.broadcom.com/support/bluetooth/update.php.  Everything installed fine.  Went to control panel>devices.  Selected the headset icon, selected connect.  Restarted laptop. Now it works.

  • Hello,

    I changed from Win7 x86 to Win7 x64.

Win7 x86 was able to find drivers but Win7 x64 didn't find them.

This is the device: Hama MB 150, Hama Mobile Multi Speaker

    Manufacturer Model number: 00092430

    BTHENUM\{24df01a9-3e4f-4c9f-9f66-5aa8ab14f8f4}_LOCALMFG&0000

The link from Thomas_77 redirects to compatible center for Win 8. I was not able to change it to Win 7/define another OS.

    Solution:

I had to install the Bluetooth-Stack-Driver from of my Computer Manufacturer.

In my case this is it: ThinkPad Bluetooth with Enhanced Data Rate Software for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)
